Bronchiolitis is an infection of the bronchioles, it occurs most often in children younger than 2 years. Most commonly caused by RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) the virus infection causes inflammation and swelling of the bronchioles, which, in turn, causes obstruction of airflow into and out of the lungs.
